Maud sailed from Liverpool on the Umbria (Cunard Line) and arrived at New York's Ellis Island on Sunday 10th June 1906.
The Umbria was built for the Cunard Line by John Elder & Company, Glasgow, Scotland in 1884. The ship weighed 8,127 gross tons; was 520 feet long and 57 feet wide; had a compound engine with single screw; and a service speed of 19.5 knots (winning the Trans-Atlantic Blue Ribbon in 1887). She could carry 1,350 passengers (550 first class and 800 third class). She ran on the Liverpool to New York service and was eventually scrapped in 1910.
