Emigration to the American Continent

Three of the six children of Henry Powell (1848-1929) emigrated to the USA and Canada.

Two brothers ended up on the West coast; one in NW USA and the other some 235 miles away just over the Canadian border. A sister went to USA and sent a Postcard back to her sister in England saying "I am married and going to have a baby".

Dick Powell

Having fought in the British Army during the First World War he was injured and returned to convalesce in hospital in Taunton, Somerset, England. He did not enjoy it at home and emigrated to Canada. He lived at Burnaby before moving to his final home at White Rock, British Columbia.

Arthur & Anna Powell

After falling out with his father and spending a month in prison, Arthur emigrated to USA where he married Anna. They lived in Kelso, Washington.
